Those who have not recently driven along South Rainbow Drive, a short street that connects Rainbow Drive and Candler Road in the Gallery at South DeKalb mall area, may be in for a surprise the next time they travel that way. In an area that not so long ago was mostly rundown buildings and empty lots is a row of new brightly colored buildings waiting to be occupied. The new mixed-use business community by Highland Financial Group had its ribbon cutting and grand opening July 16 with many county officials celebrating with key project personnel. Jan 02, 2008 - Candler Point office condos attracting the most interest from buyers
The Candler Point mixed-use development under construction on South Rainbow Drive in Decatur is shaping up to be just office condos. Atlanta-based Highland Financial Capital Group LLC, which is developing the 54-unit project, originally designed as mixed-use, now says it is considering eliminating the residential component because of South DeKalb’s high residential foreclosures and market saturation for residential projects. Aug 10, 2007 - Candler Point to give entrepreneurs shot at ownership
Candler Point, which is being built by local developer Sabi Varon, will have 54 retail storefronts. Altogether there will be eight buildings with more than 100,000 square feet of space. “This idea is unique when it comes to retail and very unique for this area,” said Varon, who is planning 10 similar projects throughout metro Atlanta. “We’re not after big anchors, but new types of businesses for the area.” Read More…
